UK Pension Transfers for Those Aged 55 and Over

Currently Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs in the UK have terminated pension transfers to Australian Superannuation Funds, other than where all members of the fund are aged 55 or over. The receiving Australian superannuation funds must be registered in the UK as Recognised Overseas Pensions Scheme (ROPS) currently this is restricted to

The Australian Expatriates Superannuation Fund (AESF) the only retail superannuation that has acquired ROPS status and can accept pension transfers from the UK

 An Australian Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) which is restricted to members aged 55 and over. Once established in Australia and registered in the UK as a (ROPS), UK pension transfers will be allowed

The age to allow UK pension transfers to Australian superannuation will increase to 57 in April 2028
